Ever wonder what the DOGE creeps are doing with your personal information?
Wonder no more. Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin has provided us with a temple to use so you can find out if it has been mishandled and exposed to organizations who shouldn't have it. Download and print this form and drop it in the mail.

It's not always raining you-know what.
By all metrics, a good chunk of Trump policies are being successfully challenged. It has been reported that they've scrapped the Guantanamo Bay fantasy camp for migrants. This is a win for human rights. And it's all because the Trump administration screws up regularly. That's our saving grace. Unqualified Republican operative Lee Zeldin is the head of the EPA. He lied to Congress at his confirmation hearing that climate change was real. If that is true, then why on earth is he using his position to do the EXACT opposite thing that is the agency's mission? In a sane world, the EPA makes regulations. But we're through the looking glass, and Zeldin's goal is to deregulate air and water protections in the name of economic prosperity.
That's not your job, jerk. Read about his new initiatives here. Hopefully some of you have gone to visit Heather White's Local Blue Collaboration, designed to help local Democrats run successfully. But she's also partnered with CommunityWorks, a volunteer program which does not have a political affiliation necessarily, but is geared to raise our profile in areas of the community by doing good works- cleanups, food drives, charity and other initiatives. Through this, we hope to change the narrative about us in this conservative county and others. If you have free time to donate, visit her site.
Also going live is a new project by our Treasurer Karin Parham, who has been a leading light in combatting the absurd goings-on in the Columbia County Library. She has a blog, the Columbia County Observer where she keeps detailed notes about any local meeting she has the time to attend. But this will be her nonprofit effort to fight what looks to any reasonable observer removal of books from sections where they belong. Folks, it's all about S-E-X. These puritans don't want children to read simple biology books, or books featuring nontraditional behavior, realistic depictions of young folks taking an interest in dating, parental roles, and ANY LGBTQ relationships. I can't keep up with all the drama, but Karin knows it back and front, so go to her new Facebook page, Freedom To Read Coalition Of Columbia County, and get up to speed on recent events.
I'm not talking about the police, of course. I'm talking about Democrats, and there is now a website stood up by member and candidate Heather White that will guide you on your way to becoming a viable candidate, or help you find ways to volunteer. It's called the Local Blue Collaboration, and there is lots to click on if you are candidate curious. Our next local elections are not until 2026, but laying some groundwork now is a smart idea!
We're excited to bring to your attention to an initiative that could supercharge our ability to function and build our infrastructure, and more importantly, monetarily support the local candidates who will emerge (hopefully!) to take on one party dominance in Columbia County. If we qualify, we get a not-insignificant-at-all grant from them every month!
It's called Contest Every Race. From their About page: CER is committed to helping Democrats compete everywhere. CER’s core program revolves around recruiting Democratically-aligned candidates for local office and providing them with the support they need to file and run for office. Our grants program supports local, non-urban Democratic Parties with funding, texting, coaching, and training. Since 2021, we have expanded to over 300 grant teams across 29 states, providing essential resources to strengthen Democratic organizing in communities nationwide. In 2024 our program granted $1.2 million to grassroots efforts, sent 13 million texts, and supported teams that knocked on 1.4 million doors. By investing in local leadership and mobilizing voters, we are building a resilient Democratic presence in rural America. If you want to donate to this fifty state-Democratic project, please consider making a donation to the fund by clicking here. I want to slam my desk sometimes too, but not as joyfully as he does.
Anyway, for new folks, those fleeing social media and those on our email list, this is where you can find the latest news affecting you. There will be information, calls to action, and sometimes a bit of entertainment. And just like on social media, you'll be able to comment on the things we post here! This is a pilot program, but I do have some experience with this format so I hope to not mess it up and have to start again or worse, scrap it. Well, there it is, the first post in the bag. Happy reading and commenting! |
