Pushin' Too Hard

Let it be said that by and large Democrats, to include myself, believe in every letter of the First Amendment as regards religion. It's literally one of the cornerstones of being allowed a free conscience without getting in trouble for having one. 

But in modern times there has been some shielding of Christians who discriminate against people in the market, whether it be needing abortion services or getting a prescription filled for getting an abortifacient, for example, or refusal to accommodate trans people medically and socially. This all started in the 90s under Clinton, who passed the onerous Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which expanded the rights of bigoted religious people to deny services based on their conscience and not have it cost them their job for not doing said job.

Now it's Georgia's turn to engage in this nonsense, to keep their oh-so-persecuted Christian base in thrall. Never be fooled that this about freedom of religion. This is about social control by a dominant religious group.
